The odds of winning EuroMillions prizes

Taking part in a large European lottery is something that everyone wants, considering yourself rich by winning the Jackpot. For the players who are already a bit familiar with the large lotteries in Europe, it is clear that the EuroMillions and the EuroJackpot are the two lotteries with which you can win the largest prizes. A Jackpot from 50,000 to 100,000 is not uncommon.

Winning EuroMillions

Of the two Euro lotteries, the EuroMillions is by far the largest. The Jackpot increases very rapidly. There are even 2 times a year when the Jackpot begins at 100,000. This so-called EuroMillions Superdraw immediately attracts a large number of new lotto players, as you can well imagine. Although the odds of winning therefore become less, the amount of the Jackpot is high enough for many people to want to take part. If the Jackpot is not hit, it will go up considerably for the next draw. With 190,000 as cap. Then the next prize will certainly be won.

Winning EuroMillions odds

Enough about the lottery itself and the amount of the Jackpot. You are curious about the odds of a prize and – most importantly - the odds of the first prize. The Jackpot. Because you want to win that. We are not talking about a prize of a few Euro. Or a few hundred Euro (never mind, how cool). No, you buy a lottery ticket because you want to win the Mega Jackpot of a few dozen million. This is what you want to win with your lottery ticket and you want to know the results of the EuroMillions as soon as possible after the draw.

The table below illustrates all the prizes and the related odds

The odds of winning the Jackpot: how great (or small) are they?

With odds of 1 to 116,000,000 (0.0000000086), of course you do not have a very great chance of winning the millions from the Jackpot. How do these odds compare to winning the Jackpot of other large lotteries?

European lotteries

The odds of winning the EuroMillions Jackpot: 1 to 116,531,800 - ticket: 5 (out of 50) and 2 (out of 11)
The odds of winning the EuroJackpot Jackpot: 1 to 95,344,200 - ticket: 5 (out of 50) and 2 (out of 10)

American lotteries

The odds of winning the US Powerball Jackpot: 1 in 292,201,338 - ticket: 5 (out of 69) and 1 (out of 26)
The odds of winning the Mega Millions Jackpot: 1 in 258,890,850 - ticket: 5 (out of 75) and 1 (out of 15)

Australian lotteries

The odds of winning the Australia Powerball Jackpot: 1 in 76,767,600 - ticket: 6 (out of 40) and 1 (out of 20)

If you look at the details above of the largest lotteries in the world, with the European lotteries, you have much greater odds of winning than the odds of both American lotteries. The Australian Powerball lottery has slightly better odds, the amount of the Jackpot is often lower. You see, it always remains a case of checking and comparing.
