77 - The Eurojackpot first prize was hit!

To be precise, the Jackpot of the Eurojackpot lottery was 76.8 million Euro. During the past few weeks, the first prize of one of the largest European lotteries was rapidly heading for the maximum of € 90,000,000. The lucky winner is from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany - from the Cologne area to be exact. Next Friday we will start again with the basic Jackpot of 10,000,000.

And that is not a sum to be scoffed at of course. You can of course easily play online via ELS Lotto.

157 - Winning ticket of 157 million dollars handed in Washington

Imagine if it was you. You buy a ticket for 5 dollars and shortly afterwards you are sipping champagne. And with a whole new life ahead of you. Because with 157 million dollars in the bank, your life will change completely.

That happened to Michael Burkett who handed in his ticket last Thursday to the Washington Lottery office in Olympia.

21 - Lottery winner closes business: loss of 21 jobs

After winning the staggering Jackpot of £148.6 million in 2012, a couple from Arbroath in Scotland decided to get divorced a year later. Whether it is connected to the divorce is not known, but tea room and restaurant Sugar and Spice recently closed ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’. Sugar and Spice is owned by Gillian, the female half of the lottery-winning couple from 2012.

The restaurant which could seat 50 people offered employment to as many as 21 employees. They are still being paid for the time being. There is probably plenty of money thanks to the massive Jackpot of a few years ago. But whether winning the Jackpot brings happiness is not entirely clear in this case.
