Residents of Germany can participate in various lotteries. In addition to the national 6 out of 49, which can be played in various provinces, the NKL Lottery and SKL Millions Show are also available. Germany is also one of the countries that make up the EuroJackpot. ELS Lotto has compiled a list with the necessary information.
The EuroJackpot is one of Europe’s largest lotteries. EuroJackpot was established in 2012. Six countries - the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Estonia and Slovenia - started this lottery. Later on, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia also joined the organization of this transnational lottery.
The EuroJackpot is a “double pool” lottery. This means two drawings are held to decide the winner of the jackpot. The winning numbers (5 out of 50) are drawn first. Then both bonus numbers (2 out of 10) are drawn. Both drawings take place in Helsinki, Finland every Friday evening.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 95,344,200. The jackpot can reach 90 million euros. It was won only once in the history of this lottery. Champagne corks popped somewhere in the Czech Republic on May 15, 2015!
Germany has a long history of lottery participation. The German Klassenlotterie was organized for the first time in Leipzig in 1697. Over the years, the system was split in two by the GKL (Gemeinsame Klassenlotterie). The Süddeutsche Klassenlotterie (SKL) was established in 1947, and one year later in Hamburg, the Nordwestdeutsche Klassenlotterie (NKL) was founded.
The difference with German Lotto 6 out of 49 is that prizes are guaranteed by the government. You can participate through NKL (Hamburg) and SKL (Bavaria). Detailed information about these lotteries is listed below.
The NKL Lottery has six categories for which a sub-drawing takes place every month. It has two start dates per year. Tickets can be bought in whole lots (1/1) through 1/16. You can improve your odds for the same price by purchasing multiple partial lots, thought that does mean you will have a smaller share of any winnings, which only makes sense. The NKL lottery starts on April 1 and October 1 of each year.
Just like the NKL Lottery, the SKL Lottery is played twice a year. It starts on June 1 and December 1. This class lottery also has monthly drawings, and the grand prize is 16 million euros.
The German Lotto 6 aus 49 is the most popular and largest lottery in the country. The concept is simple: choose 6 numbers out of a possible 49, as well as one Superzahl (Super Number) - this is an extra number between 1 and 9. You can play through lotto.de and the various official lotteries of each province. The following is a list of provinces in alphabetical order:
